A project shows Setup Incomplete

A project labelled Setup Incomplete is missing a step before it can publish. Here is how to find and finish what is left — usually GitHub or deployment setup.

A project labelled Setup Incomplete is missing a step before it can publish. This guide shows what is usually left and how to finish it.

Who this is for

Workspace Owners, Admins, and Developers who set up projects.

What Setup Incomplete means

A project needs a couple of connections before Acrosite can publish to it: a GitHub repository to commit to, and a way for your site to rebuild afterward. Until those are in place, the project shows Setup Incomplete.

Finish setup

  1. Open the project's command page to see what is connected and what is missing. See The project command page.
  2. Complete GitHub Setup — connect the Acrosite GitHub App and choose a repository and branch. See Connect GitHub.
  3. Complete Deployment Setup — choose a deployment trigger, or choose Manual / No Automatic Deployment if your host rebuilds from Git pushes. See Configure a deployment trigger.

When both are done, the project is ready to publish.

Common causes

  • GitHub Setup is connected but no repository or branch is saved.
  • Deployment Setup has not been chosen (and the project does not yet show a deployment method).
  • The GitHub App lost access to the repository — reconnect it. See Fix GitHub connection issues.
Note
You can publish with Manual / No Automatic Deployment selected if your host already rebuilds from Git pushes — that still counts as a completed deployment choice. See Use manual deployment.
