Image formats and limits
The image formats Acrosite accepts — JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, and GIF — the per-file size limit, and how Acrosite optimizes images when you upload them.
When you upload an image to the Media Library, Acrosite accepts a set of common image formats up to a size limit, and optimizes the file on upload. This reference lists the formats and limits.
Supported formats
Acrosite accepts these image formats:
- JPG — photographs and complex images.
- PNG — images that need transparency or crisp edges.
- WebP — modern, efficient format for photos and graphics.
- AVIF — newer, highly efficient format.
- GIF — simple graphics and animations.
Size limit
Each image can be up to 10 MB. Files larger than this are rejected at upload — resize or compress the image and try again.
Optimization
Acrosite optimizes images when you upload them, so the asset stored and later committed to your repository is efficient for the web. This keeps your published pages fast without you having to hand-optimize each file. The original is staged; the optimized asset is what flows through to publishing.
Tips
- Upload images close to the size they will be displayed; very large source files waste your allowance.
- Prefer WebP or AVIF for photographs when you can — they are smaller at the same quality.
- Use PNG when you need transparency, and JPG for general photos if you are not using WebP.
- If an upload is rejected, check the format is one of the five above and that the file is 10 MB or smaller.
