Archive, Trash, and restore content
Set content aside with Archive, send it to Trash, and restore items — without losing your work. Learn how each action affects a content item and your published site.
Not every content item should stay in your active workflow forever. Acrosite gives you two ways to set content aside — Archive and Trash — and a way to bring items back. This guide explains each and how they affect your work.
Who this is for
Editors, Owners, and Admins, who tidy up content and recover items when needed.
Archive vs Trash
These are two different states:
- Archived — the item is set aside and out of the active workflow, but kept for reference. Use Archive for content you are done with but want to keep.
- Trashed — the item is moved to Trash, pending permanent removal. Use Trash for content you intend to discard.
See Understand content statuses for how these sit alongside the main workflow.
Archive an item
From the Content Items list, choose Archive on the item's row. The item leaves the active list and shows under the Archived status filter. Archiving does not delete your content — it preserves the item and its values.
Move an item to Trash
From the item's row, choose Move To Trash. The item moves to the Trashed status and appears under the Trash filter, pending permanent removal.
Restore an item
To bring an item back, filter the Content Items list to Archived or Trash, open the item you want, and restore it to the active workflow. Restoring returns the content as it was so you do not lose your work.
Does this affect my live site?
Archiving or trashing a draft only changes its state inside Acrosite. Already-published content stays in your repository until you publish a change — archiving an item does not remove files your site already serves. To change what is live, publish an update.
