Write with the Block Editor
The Block Editor is Acrosite's structured writing canvas. Add headings, lists, quotes, code, dividers, images, links, and MDX blocks that output clean Markdown.
The Block Editor is Acrosite's structured writing canvas. You write naturally, and Acrosite produces clean Markdown output for publishing. This guide covers the blocks available and how the body is stored.
Who this is for
Editors and Authors who write the body of Posts, Pages, and Custom Content Type items.
The block toolbar
In the editor's Body section, make sure Block Editor is selected. The toolbar offers:
- Paragraph and Headings — H1 through H6 for structure.
- Bold, Italic, Strike, and Inline Code for inline formatting.
- Quote for blockquotes.
- Bullet List and Numbered List.
- Code Block for fenced code.
- Divider for a horizontal rule.
- Image for a body image (see Add media in the editor).
- Link for hyperlinks.
- MDX for a raw block, when you need content the other blocks do not cover.
How the body is stored
The Block Editor saves the body as a structured document and produces matching Markdown when you save. Headings become #, ##, and ###; lists, quotes, and code become standard Markdown; MDX blocks are preserved as trusted source text. You can preview the result in Advanced Output Details — see Generated Markdown and frontmatter.
A body image is stored as a Markdown image with optional alt text, an optional title, and a caption rendered beneath it. Saving the draft updates the block document, the compatibility Markdown, and the body image references together.
Tips for clean output
- Use real headings (H2/H3) for structure rather than bold text, so your published Markdown is well-formed.
- Reserve MDX blocks for content the standard blocks cannot express; everything else is clearer as native blocks.
- Switch to Source mode if you prefer to write or paste Markdown directly.
