Use manual deployment

Choose Manual / No Automatic Deployment when your host already rebuilds from Git pushes or you prefer to deploy yourself.

GuideFor DevelopersUpdated June 7, 2026

Automatic deployment is optional. Choose Manual / No Automatic Deployment when your host already rebuilds from Git pushes, or when you prefer to deploy yourself. This guide explains the manual option.

Who this is for

Developers whose host rebuilds on every Git push, or teams that prefer to control when the site deploys.

When to use manual deployment

Pick manual deployment if:

  • your host automatically rebuilds whenever your repository receives a commit, or
  • you deploy on your own schedule and do not want Acrosite to trigger a build, or
  • you have not set up a deploy hook yet and want to publish content first.

In all of these cases, Acrosite still commits your content to GitHub — it just does not send a deployment trigger.

Choose manual deployment

On the project's Deployment Setup page:

  1. Select Manual / No Automatic Deployment.
  2. Confirm with Use Manual Deployment.

The project's deployment method is now manual, and no trigger URL is stored.

Note
With manual deployment, your content is committed on publish but your site rebuilds only when your host's own process runs. Confirm the live site in your host's dashboard.

What happens next

Publishing still commits content to your repository and records the result in Publish Logs. Your site updates whenever your host next builds — from a Git push or your own deploy step.

Switch to automatic later

You can move to automatic deployment any time by choosing a provider and adding a deploy hook. See Configure a deployment trigger.
