Images are not appearing

An image is missing from your published page. Check where Acrosite committed it, how it is referenced, and whether your site serves that path.

TroubleshootingFor Editors and AuthorsUpdated June 8, 2026

An image is missing from your published page. Like other content, images are committed to your repository when content publishes, so a missing image is usually a path or build issue. This guide finds it.

How images publish

When a content item publishes, the images it uses are committed under public/images, in a folder per content type, and referenced from your Markdown as /images/.... See Where media lands in your repository.

Check, in order

  1. The item published. Confirm the content item published successfully in Publish Logs.
  2. The image committed. The image should be a file in your repository under public/images/<type>/....
  3. Your site serves it. Make sure your site serves images from public/images (most frameworks serve the public folder at the web root, so /images/... resolves).
  4. The build finished. Confirm your host's build completed after the publish — see Content is not showing on my site.

Common causes

  • The image was added by an external URL rather than uploaded. External images depend on that host staying online and are not committed to your repository — upload important images instead. See Add media in the editor.
  • Your site does not serve the public/images path.
  • The build that the publish triggered has not finished or failed on your host.
Note
An upload that was rejected never staged. Check the format (JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, or GIF) and that the file is 10 MB or smaller. See Image formats and limits.
