Project Setup

Create your first project

A project represents one website. Create a project, optionally link it to a Client, and continue to GitHub and deployment setup.

TutorialFor Owners and AdminsUpdated June 7, 2026

A project represents one website. It holds that site's content, its GitHub connection, and its deployment trigger. This guide walks through creating a project and what to do next.

Who this is for

Workspace Owners and Admins. You can create a project before you connect GitHub, so you do not need repository access yet.

Before you start

  • You have a workspace. See Create your first workspace.
  • You know which website this project is for.
  • *(Optional)* You have created a Client to group the project under.

Create the project

From your workspace, open Projects and choose New Project. Fill in:

  1. Project Name *(required)* — the name of the website, up to 120 characters.
  2. Client *(optional)* — link the project to a Client, or leave it as No Client. You can change this later.
  3. Website URL *(optional)* — the site's public address, such as your-site.com.

Select Create Project to finish.

Note
You do not have to choose a Client. Clients are an optional way to group projects, which is most useful for agencies running several sites.

What happens next

After you create the project, Acrosite opens the project's command page. At this point the project is created but not yet ready to publish, so you will see setup steps marked as pending:

  • GitHub Setup — Pending, until you connect a repository.
  • Deployment Setup — Pending, until you choose how the site redeploys.
  • Publishing Setup — Pending, until GitHub and deployment are configured.

Work through them in order:

  1. Connect GitHub — choose the repository and branch Acrosite writes to.
  2. Configure a deployment trigger — choose how the site redeploys after a publish.

Once those are done, you can create a Post or create a Page.

Troubleshooting

  • I cannot create a project. Your plan includes a set number of projects. If you are at the limit, the New Project action is unavailable. See Billing, trial, and plan limits.
  • I picked the wrong Client. Open the project and edit it to change or remove the Client link.
  • I need to publish to two sites. Create a separate project for each site — one project connects to one repository.
