Manage Custom Content Types
Create, edit, archive, and reactivate the Custom Content Types in a project, and add, archive, or delete the Custom Fields each type collects.
Manage Custom Types is where you create and organize the Custom Content Types in a project — structures such as Case Studies, Testimonials, FAQs, Services, or Locations. This guide creates a type and points you to adding its fields.
Who this is for
Workspace Owners, Admins, and Developers who design a project's content model.
Before you start
- You have a project. See Create your first project.
- You know the repeatable content this type will hold, and roughly which fields it needs.
Open Manage Custom Types
Open your project and go to Manage Custom Types (also reachable from the Content Structure page). You will see your existing Custom Content Types in a table with their field count, item count, and status, plus a button to create a new one.
Create a Custom Content Type
- Choose Create Custom Content Type.
- Enter a Singular Name (for example,
Case Study) and a Plural Name (for example,Case Studies). - Optionally add a Description so your team knows what the type is for.
- Review the Generated Type Key and Output Folder that Acrosite previews from the plural name.
- Save to create the type.
Creating a type does not create any content by itself. After it exists, add the Custom Fields that define what editors fill in, then editors can draft items from the type's list.
Manage an existing type
Each Custom Content Type card on the Content Types page lists its Custom Fields and offers:
- View Items opens the type's content list so editors can draft items.
- Edit changes the plural name, singular label and description. The type key and output folder stay locked.
- Archive (Owners and Admins) hides the type from navigation and Add Content and stops new items. Its existing items stay stored, together with anything already published, but they can't be opened, reviewed, scheduled or published while the type is archived. Archiving waits until no item of the type is in review, scheduled or publishing. Reactivate brings everything back and counts toward your plan's Custom Content Type limit again.
On a field row, Edit adjusts the field. If the type has no items yet, Delete removes a field completely and frees its key. Once the type has items, the action is Archive instead: the field leaves the editor and new output, and saved values are kept. You can restore an archived field from Edit.
