Link a Client to a project
Connect a project to a Client when you create it or from Project Settings — or leave it unlinked. Clients are always optional.
Linking a project to a Client groups it under that customer or brand. You can set the link when you create a project, or change it later from Project Settings. Linking is always optional.
Who this is for
Workspace Owners and Admins who organize projects by Client.
Before you start
- The Client exists. See Create a Client.
- The project exists, or you are about to create it.
Link when creating a project
When you create a project, the form includes a Client (Optional) dropdown:
- Open Projects, then New Project.
- Fill in the project name, choose a Client from the dropdown (or leave it as No Client), and add a website URL if you have one.
- Choose Create Project.
Link or change it later
You can change the Client link any time from Project Settings:
- Open the project, then choose Project Settings.
- Under Project Details, set the Client (Optional) dropdown to the Client you want — or back to No Client.
- Choose Update Project.
Note
Changing the linked Client only changes how the project is grouped. It does not affect GitHub, deployment, content, or publishing.
What happens next
The project now appears under its Client when you browse by Client. You can move it to a different Client or unlink it at any time.
Troubleshooting
- The Client is not in the dropdown. Create the Client first, then return to the project. See Create a Client.
- I want the project to have no client. Choose No Client — projects do not require a Client.
